A strange thing happened on the way to author
Samantha Braide’s name has been removed from the author’s page on the Phoenix Fire Publishing page. Instead the same author picture is up for Elle Beth and the same book cover is up but with Elle Beth’s name on the cover that previously was Samantha Braide. Stay tuned as i investigate this more closely.

Name changes seem to be a common theme with the Mystic Press/Phoenix Fire crowd, doesn’t it?
Must Have Fangs has changed her name to Fangtastic Graphics. Lindsay has changed hers to Inner spirit graphics and photography. but the content has not changed. My investigation has turned up enough information to blow Tabetha out of the water.
I have screengrabs of the cached and new versions over on TRN. Samantha/Elle isnt the only odd thing. Note the new listings for Julieanne and Angel, with just photos and no bios. Also note the change in Jennifer’s surname. It’s an ever-changing cast of characters.

The names on Tab’s “staff” page have changed, too. Now (at least) two of the people that “work” there are alts.
Hi I just wanted to say yes, Inner Spirit is mine. I’m doing things differently. I’m still doing graphics but concentrating more on my photography. I just want to start a fresh this year and wanted to keep it separate for my writing so I changed the name. Plus I have help with the photography so it wouldn’t be fair to just have it under my name.
I don’t know if you’re interested but two things I do know. Sam wants to use a pen name, hence the name change. Also Jennifer now writes under her newly married name.
Lindsay should have contacted you by now with some information. It should help with some of the above. Inner Spirit is Lindsay’s new small business. She has gone into partnership with a long term friend and is focusing more on her photography. With everything that’s going on I don’t blame her for changing her direction.
I do believe she has some info on some of the name changes. You see, if you just asked her these things in a friendly manner, she will help.

Of course it was, Martha — by YOU. Who else typed her name anywhere in this blog entry? If I had an aunt who was was as big a buttinski as you, I’d be sorely tempted to duct tape her fingers together.
Lindsay changed the name of her company. We already have that information. You didn’t bring anything new to the table.
I don’t know how taxes work on that side of the pond, but I hope Lindsay’s keeping on top of her paperwork better than her boss is.

Yes Lep, Lindsay keeps all her paperwork, receipts and hands them to her accountant. That’s for her art, photography and her book sales. She is on the ball with everything. She has nothing to worry about it’s all looked after and her taxes and NI are paid as requested.
By the way, more info, I won’t specify my source. Julieanne and Angel, nobody knows them. Nobody has spoken to them, they never seem to comment on any of the pages Phoenix has. I believe them to be non existent as does my source.

They do. Its awful. I see Anna Lovelace, that stinks too. I know people use pen names, but not everyone. I notice Skylynn has now gone from a loud mouth friend to an author too. Now why is that? It doesn’t make her any more believable. I think she is definitely Tabetha.
We already know that, Martha. We’re pretty hip to most of the fakes running around here, if not all of them.

Also, Lep, may I just say Tabetha is NOT Lindsay’s boss. She is her own boss. I just wanted to clear that up love.
I guess that’s why Lindsay is listed on Tabetha’s site as “staff” then.
Ok, so for starters, at some point Skylynn’s profile has switched photos of this author multiple times. Here’s my issue with that. 1) It’s pretty obvious that Skylynn is another false or pen name account. Ok.fine, have your alternate accounts if it makes you happy. 2) The photo i found associated with it recently belonged to a dear friend who I know for fact does NOT go by Skylynn.
Angela McCuen is a wonderful friend and beautiful poet. I’ll always support her in her writing endeavors even if I don’t agree with who she has chosen to publish with.
3) Using a legitmate person’s photo to cover up your fake account can be consider oh I don’t know…..what’s that word that seems to run along Mystic’s oops I mean Phoenix flash Fire’s theme… FRAUD. If Angela did not grant legal permission for her photo to be used as Skylynn, well then….. seems like someone needs to find a fresh stolen image for her fake account.
I greatly dislike the idea that Angela has been dragged into this and her photo misused for a fake person.
I will ask that the authors who are still associated with that company who are legitimately trying to make it as an author understand that 1) It’s other authors who’ve been.through the ringer that are truly willing to help and offer advice. 2) Some people are magnificent liars and can spill honey in your ears until you’re deafened by ignorance.
I refuse to bash or hate on authors honestly trying to make a name for themselves. I say go for the gold baby! Follow your passion, BUT ask.around about the company you’re considering signing with. Listen to all points of view. The good, the BAD and the ugly. Make smart decisions and don’t be fooled by promises. Especially when a company has a track record of losing authors.
Martha, if a passing reference to Lindsay, which was relatively harmless, is enough to set you off, then maybe you ought to think before you speak.
And, thank you, Lindsay for clarifying the name change reasons.
Lep that is something I will bring to her attention as the only person she works for is herself.
