Doctor’s news

In addition to everything else, I may have skin cancer.  I got way too much sunshine while living in Southern California.  My skin is too fair to tan, so I got sunburned a lot.  My doctor is in the process of making the appointments to have a specialist remove the moles from my face that have turned strange and examine them.

On a more up beat angle, I’m also going to be getting a fresh run of physical therapy for my leg.

They increased my meds and my feet stopped singing again.  It had become intermittant, but now it should stop entirely.

When I see the doctor again on the 31st of this month, they are going to make appointments for me to get my ears and hearing re-checked and possibly be able to do something for them.

As usual, I have kept putting all of this off and it piled up on me.  Sovay and Natalie kept nagging me until I surrendered and agreed to make a list of my complaints and take them to the doctor.  I changed doctors, but am still going to the same clinic.  My new doctor is very together and was far more thorough than the previous ones.

And yet, I was not made to feel like a bug under glass or a germ on microscope’s slide.

I haven’t been bugging you directly so much as telling you what I’m doing to fix my own problems so I can function again. Lead by example and all that.

You also told me you were worried about me.

I’ll include you in my prayers Janrae. Remember, in this day and age they have made so many advances the dreaded “c” word doesn’t have to mean doom and gloom anymore.

Janrae, I hope things go well for you. You’ve got a prayer barrage inbound. 🙂

I hope this turns out to not be as bad as you think. Be well.

Skin cancer is very common & generally quite treatable. My folks have spent 40+ years having various little things removed.

Thanks all of you. I looked it up on the net, and these days it seems like in 90% of the cases, caught early, it is no longer as big a deal as it was when I was growing up. That is a vast relief.

As long as you get it taken care of before the tentacles sprout.

Uhmn… I guess that makes me the Bride of Cthulu?

Best of luck with the tests and treatment. It’s good that they catch these things, and that they don’t make you feel like a lab rat in the process.

All those years they went on about “a good healthy tan” … even ten years ago my So Cal aunts were aghast at me about how pale the kid was … “Good Lord, Christine, don’t you ever let that child OUTSIDE???” they would say, and I would explain that yes, yes we do, but we live in Seattle, c’mon …

As for the tentacles and Bride of Cthulhu thing, hey, who ever said east-coast Innsmouth got to have a monopoly on it?

Part of the reason I finally decided to point them out to a doctor was reading that post about the Treeman on SL. I kept feeling the damned things, and thinking about the hornlike crust on them, and began to wonder if I was going to turn into the Treeman. Better Cthulu than Treeman.

Hang in there, Janrae, and best of luck. Hopefully it is nothing. But on the off-chance that it is, yes, treatments are wonderful nowadays. I’m sure you’ll do fine.

My husband had several skin cancers removed whn he was in his twenties. He’s 52 now.
Hope everything works out for you.

It was an odd looking mole from the start. Pearly white. And now it is covered with an extended growth that is snow white, rough, and spiky. I have found references to them, but so far no pictures. And it is spreading rapidly.

This is late, but I’m so sorry. I’m hoping everything will be good! (I’d say pray, but I’m not religious; that’d just sound weird.)
